Calorimetry

I found this Calorimetry pattern on Knitty and thought it was just so cute. I have long hair (not as long as back in the day) and hate to wear hats in the winter because of hat head, but I know I should cover up and my ears do get cold. This pattern seemed like the perfect happy-medium. I had been following a conversation about this patter on the Stitch 'n Bitch group on MySpace, and knew I would need to make some adjustement to my CO depending on the yarn and size of my noggin'. I made this one first with Lion Wool:

The picture doesn't really do the yarn justice as there is some nice purple in the mix with brown and the blue (which was really why I bought the yarn, I love brown and purple together). My assistant loved it so much I made her one too!

Then I had this one skein of yarn. For the life of me I can't remember what kind, but it was red and purple (another of my favorite color combination) with gold thread. Because this yarn was a little thicker it happens to be warmer :)

My First Hat

My very first hat!! I can't remember how I came across this pattern but it's called the Brangelina . It was a fairy easy and quick hat to make. It was made with Lion's Wool-Ease Thick and Quick (1 skein) and size 10 and 11 needles (dpn and circular). The hat is quite warm! It looks great on the model as well :)

Ice Cream Cozies!

I found this really great pattern for an Ice Cream Cozy! The cozy slides over a Ben & Jerry's pint very nicely. I instantly thought of making these for my bf Scott, because he's a BIG B&J's ice cream fan. So I went hunting for the Cascade Fixation yarn it requires, and knowing Scott, it had to be either all black or b&w. I went to a LYS and they had the Fixation in the Harlequin (b&w) so I bought it and made 2 of them for him. Now I just need to get around to mailing them to him!

Red Scarf Project

Here are two scarves that I knitted for the Red Scarf Project
with my SNB group.

The one on the right was knit with regular Lion's Wool-Ease. This was my first attempt at getting fancy with my knitting :)

The one on the left was knit with Lion's Wool-Ease Thick & Quick in a simple 2x2 rib pattern. The scarf turned out softer then I thought it would. I almost wanted to keep it for myself! *grin*

These should keep someone's neck nice and warm this winter :)

My First Shawl

Holidays have kept me away from posting for a while. Too busy knitting those gifts and of course silly me forgot to take pics of them all!

As I started unpacking my winter clothes, yes believe it of not I've just started (Mother Nature has apparently extended her vacation in Fiji and I am NOT complaining *grin*) I found the first shawl I crocheted.

I used Lion Brand Microspun yarn. A nice soft yarn, but I think it would be a yarn better suited for knitting. I crochet the shawl longer than the pattern required and I love it! Apparently so does my cat. If I leave it out within 5 minutes he's burrowed himself down and is taking a nap! I'll have to add that picture if I can find it!
