Fairies and Cookies and knitting and fun and.....

The fairy squares are complete and sewn together!! *cheer* I had really wanted to line all the squares in black, but I made the mistake of talking to my mom before I made the decision and she talked me out of it. She has this thing with little girls and the color black. Much to her dismay, when I was young my favorite color was black... oh you should have heard the fights we would get into at the stores!

Now I just need to finish the rest... and before Christmas?!?! Anyone have on of those special stop watches that actually stops time that I could borrow for a few days?? :)

Wednesday night our S 'n B group had its first Cookie Swap! There were about 24 women there and we each made 6 dozen cookies! That's a 1728 cookies in one kitchen that isn't a bakery!
Talk about a sugar high!

Stacey (the cute blonde on the top right corner picture) organized the whole event and openned up her beautiful house to all us crazy women! Not only did Stacey do the above she also played the role of the Cookie Nazi and collected everyone's recipes for the cookies they were planning on bringing beforehand and made a cookie cookbook with all the recipes for each of us! How great was that!

And of course, no S 'n B would be complete without Denise, a swift, a ball winder and a few skeins of yarn!

We all had a blast and hopefully this will be the first of many more :)

Long Lost Updates

I know, I know... where the hell have I been?? I'm not really sure how time seems to be getting away from me lately, but it is. Ironically thought, at the same time I feel like this school year is going by to freakin' slowly! BUT I won't go into THAT issue right now.

I've been very lackadaisical on my blogging lately cause I seem to be out of town every other weekend in October! You all know I was in GA the first weekend, partying hard with friends I haven't seen in a few years. The weekend after that I was in the Chicago area working on this with Mr. X and two weeks later I was back there again!

I'm still confused *for lack of a better word right now* about what is going on between us. There's a small piece of me that wonders "what the fuck are you doing?" I've never had a problem with walking away from a man that was stupid enough to do me wrong, but for some reason I cannot walk away from this one. I am still in love with this man. There is a larger piece of me that holds on to the notion that there is some sort of divine power at work because lets face it, we live 720 miles apart - it's not like I'm gonna run into him at the local grocery store or anything like that. So why else would we be talking again?

There's another large part of me that thinks this was a HUGE wake-up call for him. And I really do feel that there is definitely a change in him. I certainly see a different side to the man that I originally fell in love with. Not saying that's bad by any means, just a deeper piece of him that is being shared with me. I just don't know yet if it's going to affect his serious commitment issues or not. At least this time I have my eyes open a little more. Do I realize that I could be setting myself up for another heart ache should he run scared again after the baby comes... yeah, I do. I also look at the prospect that we can get through this, our relationship will be so much stronger and that is a good thing. I believe in 2nd chances when the person is making an honest effort to change.

Anyhoo, enough about that. While I was up there though, I did manage to snap a few shots of the blanket I had crocheted for him 2 years ago for his Christmas gift.

Tonight was Stitch 'n Bitch night. The Wednesday night group is getting so large that we practically take over the cafe area at Boarders!

Here's an update photo on the baby's blanket. I am at the half way point for the main body of the blanket. The border is knit separately and then stitched on. It's going to be interesting trying to block this thing when I'm finally done!

Here are some WAY-BELATED photos of the 2nd Monica tank for my older niece. We left off the ruffle piece cause she thought it was to babish for middle school. They grow up so fast!

On a more upbeat note, I joined Curves a little over a month ago and on Monday I had my first weight and measurements taken since I've started working out. In one month I lost a total of 14" all together! *does a little happy dance* The biggest shocker to me was losing 3 whole inches in my hips! WooHoo!

I will update you all on the other 2 Christmas afghan gifts soon, I promise!!

KIBorders

Wednesday nights my Stitch 'n Bitch group meets at the local Border's Cafe ad has a blast for a few hours. Here is our fearless leader Lynn, and sitting next to her is her partner-in-crime Denise. Between the two of them, there is nothing they can't help someone in the group fix or figure out :)

Fearless Leader

Our little group has grown from about seven to almost 20 weekly!! We love it! So does Borders :) *thank goodness since I don't there there is any other place in town that would take us in*giggle* Because each of us is so different in this group and yet we have a total blast together, one of the ladies has nicknamed us "The Island of Misfit Toys" I L-O-V-E it!!

The Group

This week we had a special treat. Cass and Bri both had oodles of skeins they needed to wind into balls and Denis just happened to have her ball winder AND swifter in her car *Now THAT's what I call a knitting addiction!* Don't worry, we love you Denise!

Picture Title: How many gals does it take to wind some yarn?

Winder

Winder 2
Yes, we got some very strange looks for the other customers as to what the heck they were doing *giggle*

Here's the end result - and no those gals didn't finish winding everything, least I don't think they did, but then again, I could be wrong. It's been known to happen, just not very often *laugh*

Stitch 'n Bitch night

Tonight was another happy and relaxing night at Border's with some knitter and crocheters. I'm still learning everyone names as some people come to every session and others come sporatically. Some of the ladies in the group have decided to knit or crochet stuffed animals for charity. Isn't that the cutest hippo!
Ivy (pic below) - who constantly tells people Just remember Poison Ivy and you'll never forget my name or something along those lines, is just a riot! She talks a mile a minute and is constantly taking pictures of the group. As you can see, she can be still long enough for anyone else to get a picture of her though!
Nexy is a pic of KozyKitty. As you can see she is diligently working on her Sahara KAL for the SexyKitter's group.
Lastly is a pic of some beautiful stitch markers KozyKitty made for me. She gave them to me when I finished my National Board's portfolio. I just love the one she made of my Frisco!
